Marcus  Rhatigan Show Jumping Clinic

Pro Irish Rider/Trainer

POSTPONED

Horsesport at Laughin’ Place Stables is pleased to host a two-day riding clinic with professional Irish show jumper rider/trainer Marcus Rhatigan.  Classes at the clinic will be offered in show jumping, tailored to the level of horse and rider, and the rider's goals.

Marcus’ love for horses began at age 6 with his first pony ride.  Soon after first interacting with horses, Marcus started training with Irish show jumper Peter Richards.  Marcus spent his early years hunting and competing in jumper shows.  While continuing to ride as a teenager, Marcus became involved in preparing horses for sale, in all disciplines of riding, throughout the European circuit.  After high school he went on to Kill International Equestrian Centre where he prepared for his BHS during the day, while studying Equine Science at night.  After earning his BHS and completing his academic studies, he began riding for international rider and trainer Iris Kellett, from whom Marcus gained extensive understanding about breeding young horses for jumping.  Marcus moved to the United States to continue riding and training, commencing his equine career in America at Acorn Hill Farm, where he showed and sold many young horses.  Since working at Acorn Hill, he has been riding in competition along the East Coast from Vermont to Florida.  He has concentrated primarily on working with young horses and preparing them and their owners for jumping, eventing, and sale.  Marcus recently relocated to Partridge Hollow Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut, and is offering clinics and lessons in the States and in Europe.

TRAINING SYSTEMS

Marcus bases his systems of training largely on classical methods and emphasizes a foundation of dressage for all horses and riders.  He starts all horses with extensive pole and grid work before advancing to courses.  He works with young horses with the strongest conformation, most athletic potential, and highest overall quality.  He supports and maintains his horses’ abilities with top veterinary care, expert farrier attention, and advanced gym training.  Central to Marcus’ training methods is the idea that the stronger a horse is physically and mentally, the better that animal can compete and the longer they can attain success.

CLIENTS

Marcus is currently based at Partridge Hollow Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he has the use of some of the best equine facilities available in America.  He is accepting new clients, both horses and riders, who are serious about show jumping.  Marcus is assembling a string of horses with the pure intention of developing Grand Prix competitors, and investors at any level are welcome to contact him at marcusrhatigan@aol.com

Marcus has limited availability for new clientele, both horse and rider, in all levels up through Grand Prix.  He may be e-mailed at marcusrhatigan@aol.com.
